Blue crystal design
SAP Blue Crystal is a new visual design theme that replaces Corbu. It provides a consistent design that allows users to easily use SAP GUI and NWBC elements.
This is the default Fiori app theme and comes with a new flower palette and icons that scale better. The background texture has a white and light blue stroke pattern with a gradient layer.
As it replaces Corbu with Blue Crystal, it integrates the SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 and NWBC 5.0.
Complete icon redesign for Blue Crystal
All SAP GUI icons used by SAP applications have been redesigned to match Blue Crystal Design. Also, they scale much better than before. The new icon set is exclusive to Blue Crystal Design.
New default color for Blue Crystal icons
When you use it with patch 2, the base color changes from blue to dark gray to match the design with the Fiori app.
Supported available versions for different platforms
The supported available versions for different platforms are listed below:

- SAP GUI for HTML/Internet Transaction Server (ITS).
SAP GUI was released separately to support Windows and Java, and the latest version for Windows and Java is 7.4.
Microsoft Windows Release
SAP GUI 7.4, the latest version for Windows, was released in October 2014 and supports various features such as - it is installed along with NWBC 5.0 by default, and SAP GUI and GUI shortcuts are launched through NWBC.
However, you also have the option to use SAP GUI and NWBC in parallel. To do this, you just need to select the new component install SAP GUI Desktop Icon / Shortcuts to install the SAP Logon Desktop Icon (Pad) and register the SAP GUI Shortcuts to SAP Logon.
JAVA release
SAP GUI 7.4 is the latest version for JAVA. This provides support for other operating systems and was released in October 2014. Since the SAP GUI for Java 7.40 is not currently available on DVD, you must go to the hotfix section on the SAP Support Portal to download the SAP GUI for Java 7.40.

To use the SAP GUI to access a remote central service, you first need to download it from the SAP Marketplace;
Go to service.sap.com to sign in to SAP Market Place.Log in with SID SXXXXXXXX and password. After logging in, go to Products>Software Downloads;
In the Software Downloads section, go to the Install and Update section. Follow the A-Z alphabetical order and select G from the list;
Choose a platform from the available list, you can choose SAP GUI for Windows, SAP GUI for Java and SAP GUI for Windows S/4. Once you click there, you can see detailed information about everything that is in the latest SAP GUI - features, support lifecycle, dependencies, general information, etc. on the information page.
Support lifecycle
SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 was released to General Availability (released for productive use) on October 8, 2014. When planning an SAP GUI upgrade, please consider moving directly to release 7.40.
Please take these end-of-support dates into consideration when planning or considering your front end −
- April 9, 2013 discontinued SAP GUI for Windows 7.20;
- On July 15, 2015 full support of SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 is finished;
- On October 31, 2015, limited support for SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 will end.
